From “little folk singer” on The Voice Kids to the đàn tranh today
Looking back on Đoàn Minh Tài’s journey: from The Voice Kids Vietnam 2014 to the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory and self-produced folk music videos.
2014: “the little folk singer”
The second season of The Voice Kids Vietnam (2014) introduced Đoàn Minh Tài — then 14, from Tiền Giang — to audiences nationwide. On coach Cẩm Ly’s team, Minh Tài chose folk and country songs such as “Còn thương rau đắng mọc sau hè”, “Bạc Liêu hoài cổ”, “Nội tôi” and “Ngày đá đơm bông”, and became known as “the little folk singer”. The journey on the show ended at the fourth live show on 13 September 2014.
2019: the đàn tranh and solo mini shows
According to Thanh Niên newspaper (24 August 2019), at 19 Minh Tài was a third-year student in the đàn tranh (bachelor’s) and đàn bầu (intermediate) programmes at the Ho Chi Minh City Conservatory, and recorded, mixed and edited music videos independently. That same year, a fourth solo mini show, “Ru lại câu hò”, took place in Ho Chi Minh City.
Today
